The Zen Garden

Not long ago, Michelle brought in an special sandpit because it was raining and we couldn't go gardening. The sandpit was called The Zen Garden. When you use it, sometimes it makes you meditate. The sand is very smooth and soft so you have to be gentle, not touch it with your hands and make sure you don't pour some out of the tray. When you make a pattern it has to mean something.

The next week we made up some good rules about The Zen Garden. The first one was: Only use the tools on the sand because they are fragile and one of them was only a little bit broken. The Second one was: Use the tools gently. The third one was: Keep the stones that we use for The Zen garden off the tools because the tools are fragile and the stones are very heavy. The fourth one is: Look after and be gentle with the tools. The Fifth one is: Keep the sand in the tray. The sixth one is: Only use the tools  for making patterns.. The seventh one is: Only one person at a time using The Zen Garden. The eighth one is: Keep the rocks and tools on top of the sand. The last rule is: Do not disturb others when they are working with The Zen Garden.

Now if you come into our classroom you will see The Zen Garden on a table and maybe you can try to use it but look at the rules first. If you want to try and carry the whole thing try not to do it because The Zen Garden is  extremely heavy . The tools also have meanings. One of them means sea or ocean because the tool makes a pattern that is wavy like the waves. The other two tools are just for flattening the pattern so someone else can make another pattern.

The Day the Baby Chicks Came to Visit

A few weeks ago Michelle brought in five baby chicks. They were yellow and cute. I got to hold one of the smaller ones. The chicks were very cute and fluffy. After a while we had to put the chicks back in their green box that they came from. Then Michelle had to leave and me, Rosie,Nikita and Ruby had to go back to the class room and do our work. Once I did at least three pieces of work it was lunch time so I ate my food I went to play with Ruby,Emily,Rosie and Nikita. After that the bell went and every one went inside and Dawn did the roll then every one went back to work. Finally the bell went and every one went home. By Carmen.
