Guess the Animal Poem

Poppy is a very fat and chubby creature
She is as soft as a cloud
And as furry as a lion's mane.
She is charming and loves Maisey.
Poppy is as fleet footed as a cheetah.
She has elongated ears
And her tail is a fluffy ball of fluff.

Can you guess the animal and put your guess in the comments section?

Learning Is...

Last week, Mrs. G came in to do a Define Map with our class about what learning is...

We talked about what is relevant and not relevant. All the relevant information is put in the middle and the information that is not relevant to the topic is put in the outside square.

Mrs. G is going to come back another day, so we can continue working on our Define Map of what Learning Is, together.

Haiku

A haiku is a Japanese poem that has three sentences and doesn't have to rhyme. It is always about nature. The first line has five syllables, the second has seven and the last one has five syllables.

The Year 4's have had a lesson about haiku poetry and we wrote a poem about trees. They are below.

SH

tall beautiful trees
the bark is rough and cracky
pretty blowing leaves

MG

Tall beautiful trees
I can see a tree blowing
tall fun blowing trees

LT

Big green bushy trees
Leaves blowing in the strong breeze
I can hear the trees

EO

Big beautiful trees
Shaking in the big strong wind
They are thin and thick.

Chinese New Year

This year we were fortunate enough to have one of our parents come in to talk about Chinese New Year. She told us about some of the customs and traditions surrounding Chinese New Year. We were surprised to find out that some families believe it is bad luck to buy new pots or shoes during the two weeks of celebration. We also enjoyed some sweet and savoury treats that were brought in for us to share.
