This year we were fortunate enough to have one of our parents come in to talk about Chinese New Year. She told us about some of the customs and traditions surrounding Chinese New Year. We were surprised to find out that some families believe it is bad luck to buy new pots or shoes during the two weeks of celebration. We also enjoyed some sweet and savoury treats that were brought in for us to share.
